Homemade Butter in 20 Minutes
by Irina at Homegrown Adventures
Making homemade butter from heavy whipping cream is so easy. It tastes so much better than store butter.
You can put it in a canning jar with a lid and shake the jar until it forms soft lumps. You can also add some Will take about 20 minutes. We add Himalayan salt to the heavy whipping cream.
If you place butter in the freezer it can last up to a year.
Compound Homemade Butters:
Bacon and cheese: you need 1 cup of soft butter, 4 bacon slices, 2 cups of chives, and 2/3 cups of sharp cheddar cheese. Mix well and put in parchment paper and then add to potatoes or bread when ready to enjoy.
Garlic and herb: 1 cup of soft butter, 4 garlic cloves,1/2 bunch of parsley, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Mix well and put in parchment paper and then add to bread or marinate meat.
Dessert Compound butter: 1 cup of soft butter, dried lavender, honey, and hazelnuts. Mix well and add to small molds. Enjoy on breakfast toast.
Ghee: You remove the milk solids from the homemade butter. The smoky taste is delish.
Add 4 sticks of butter to a pan. You want to first be on medium heat and then once the butter has melted reduce the heat to very low. It takes about 25 minutes. Let it cool and strain it.
